Upper Extremities
About This Course
“Upper extremities” refer to the parts of the body above the waist, primarily the arms, forearms, wrists, hands, and fingers. These extremities are essential for performing tasks such as grasping, lifting, pushing, and manipulating objects. They consist of bones, muscles, joints, and nerves that enable a wide range of movements and functions necessary for daily living and work activities.
Medical professionals use the term “upper extremities” when discussing conditions, injuries, or treatments related to these parts of the body. Disorders such as fractures, sprains, arthritis, and nerve compressions can affect the upper extremities and may require medical intervention ranging from physical therapy to surgical procedures. Understanding the anatomy and function of the upper extremities is crucial for diagnosing and managing such conditions effectively
